Hidden in the forest near Evanton. This deep sandstone gorge is one of the area’s best-kept secrets. The path winds gently through pine trees until the ground drops away suddenly. It reveals sheer red cliffs carved by the River Glass over thousands of years. It is an otherworldly place that feels like a natural cathedral.

Fyrish Monument

Rising above the town of Alness. This stone monument tells the story of Highland history and hope. Built in 1783 by Sir Hector Munro. It honours local soldiers who served overseas. The walk to the top rewards you with wide skies, stunning scenery, and sweeping views over the Cromarty Firth.
Important Notes SVG

Wet-Weather Backup:

  • If the Cromarty walk is too wet. We can explore around Chanonry Point more or visit Glenmorangie Distillery.

Aleman’s Tip: Between August and October, you might see salmon leaping upstream. Pause here, take a deep breath, and let the sound of the falls fill your senses.

Cromarty Village & Lunch at Sutor Creek Café

The colourful seaside village of Cromarty is a true Highland treasure. Its narrow streets and pretty cottages feel timeless. While the harbour looks out to the open firth. Lunch is at Sutor Creek Cafe. It is famous for its wood-fired pizza and fresh seafood.
Important Notes SVG

Worth knowing: Lunch is flexible and not included. Typical meals cost 12 to 18 pounds per person.

Aleman Icon

Aleman’s Tip: If the Cromarty walk is too wet. We can explore around Chanonry Point more or visit Glenmorangie Distillery. When the weather is kind, the harbour walk is one of the happiest parts of the day.

Dolphin Spotting at Chanonry Point

This is one of the few places in the world. You can stand on a beach and watch wild dolphins swim by. Bottlenose dolphins often leap and play within sight and delight visitors.
Important Notes SVG

Worth knowing: The flat beach path is suitable for all visitors. Spend about 30 to 40 minutes here to make the most of the experience.

Aleman Icon

Aleman’s Tip: I will check the tide times so we arrive when the dolphins are most active, usually about an hour after low tide. Bring a warm layer and patience. The wait often turns into magic.
